Atlas - Giovanni Ozzola

48,00

'Atlas' collects a selection of projects by Giovanni Ozzola and presents his practice as a continuous exploration of the concept of map, understood not only in a geographical sense but also in a symbolic, existential and visual sense. At the center of his research are the notion of horizon and the idea of travel, understood as tools to question the relationship between the individual and space, between visible and invisible.

Through photography, engraving, sculpture and installation, Ozzola constructs a language that combines historical and scientific elements with a reflection on perception and identity. His works often include traces—lines, writings, graffiti—that transform places into palimpsests of experiences. Slate, photographic film, concrete or bronze become sensitive surfaces. Each material is chosen for its ability to record the passage of time and light.

Atlas is inspired by the function of the atlas: an open device, made of routes and trajectories, capable of orienting and, at the same time, leaving room for the unexpected. In this perspective, Ozzola’s art is in continuity with some practices of conceptual art and cartography, but renews their coordinates, placing the emphasis on the gaze as an act of attention and on the map as a narrative form. The work thus becomes an archive of movements, a silent recording of crossings. The landscape, often abandoned and marked by minimal human presences, is transformed into a threshold between personal time and collective memory. Atlas is, ultimately, an invitation to consider art as a tool for reading space and for constructing a meaning, in a constant balance between orientation and loss.
