Winter Drawings - Peter Liversidge
Winter Drawings is the first collaboration between Csimota Publishing and ArchivorumxMegeve, presenting the work of British visual artist Peter Liversidge.
The drawings in the book were created in the winter of 2024 and 2025. They are impressions of a tree or a fragment of one, appearing as fragile, immobile shadows on translucent tracing paper, evoking the world of Far Eastern shadow theatres.
Trees without roots, branches without leaves, float unfinished in the void that surrounds them like a frame. The viewer stands outside space and time. Nothing is real, yet at any moment we can hear the crackling of branches, the creaking of trees, witness their change, their destruction by man, by nature, and then their rebirth, their growth. The trees stand rigid and unprotected, alone, but as the layers on the translucent pages are superimposed, they suddenly begin to move, forming a dense, impenetrable forest.
Winter Drawings is a book object that plays on this duality in both form and concept. The extreme delicacy and fragility of the paper make this vulnerability palpable and invite us to contemplate change and ephemerality.
